Steven Pienaar was the big-name signing that was introduced as a Clever Boy for the first time and he was accompanied by Daylon Claasen, Slavko Damjanovic, Kobamelo Kodisang and Thato Thlone.
Head coach, Gavin Hunt, and CEO, Jose Ferreira, were on hand to discuss the new signings following their moves from both overseas and local clubs, and the two stressed how impressed they’d been with the players so far.
Speaking to the Siya crew after the launch, Hunt said, “We were stronger last year than the year before, and we’re now stronger now than we were last year. If I look along the bench and I’ve got Claasen and Pienaar and young Kodisang, it’s looking good. That’s the scenario we’ve got now.
“A season doesn’t sound like a lot of games, but it’s spread over a long period of time. It’s good to have the players.”
Wits’ first game will see them take on Golden Arrows in the MTN8 quarterfinals next week.
