The Bidvest Wits striker, who has been linked with an exit, is likely to stay with the club for the new season.

Having joined the Sturrock Park outfit in January and battled for enough game-time in the second half of the season under coach Gavin Hunt, Thobani Mncwango has been linked with an exit from the former PSL champions.

Chippa United have been keen on signing the 30-year-old player for coach Dan Malesela’s return to the Port Elizabeth club in the new season.

Discussions about a swap deal involving Chippa and Wits for Mncwango and Mxolisi Macuphu had reportedly been started.

However, Mncwango’s representative Josiah Mphono told the Siya crew that the former Polokwane City player is staying put with the Students.

“Thobani is not leaving Wits from what I understand. He is in the plans at the club,” said Mphono.
