Wits’ Striker Conundrum…
Bidvest Wits’ Striker Conundrum…
Bidvest Wits will be set to make a decision about the immediate futures of three of their strikers as they near the final six months of their contract.
James Keene and Eleazar Rodgers will both see their contracts with the Students come to an end on June 30 of 2018, with Siya sources since informing Soccer Laduma that the club is yet to open talks with Rodgers about a possible contract extension.
Keene had his added one-year option with Wits exercised at the end of last season and as reported in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the player’s future is currently up in the air as talks about a new deal are not yet underway.
On the other hand, Egyptian international, Amr Gamal’s loan spell with Wits will also come to an end on June 30, next year and it remains to be seen whether the Clever Boys are interested in keeping the player’s services for another year or whether they will look to approach his parent club, Al Ahly for a permanent transfer.
Wits currently have Keene, Rodgers, Gamal and Gabadinho Mhango on their books as strikers for the 2017/18 campaign, with Mhango the only player whose contract is set to run beyond the current 2017/18 season
Now, it remains to be seen whether Wits will look to extend the stay of Rodgers, Gamal and Keene beyond the current 2017/18 campaign.
