Wits Discuss Mahlambi & Jordan Ahead Of Euro Moves

Bidvest Wits Have Spoken About Phakamani Mahlambi & Liam Jordan

By Joe Crann - Aug 02, 2017 11:48 AM @YesWeCrann
Bidvest Wits’ CEO, Jose Ferreira, has opened up on the potential transfers of teenagers, Phakamani Mahlambi and Liam Jordan, to the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Mahlambi and Jordan, both 19, could be playing for Vitoria de Guimaraes and Sporting Clube de Portugal respectively this coming season if all goes to plan, however, at this stage, no deal has been finalised for either player.

Speaking at the club’s kit launch on Tuesday, Ferreira gave an update on both players as Mahlambi continues his assessment at Guimaraes and Jordan remains training with Gavin Hunt’s side in Johannesburg.

Speaking about Mahlambi, Ferreira said, “We’ve got Phakamani who’s on trial overseas, and there’s been quite a bit of interest on Phakamani.

“Things are looking good, he had an outstanding game last week for Guimaraes against Sporting. They’re very happy with him, they’re monitoring his progress and obviously, we’ll find out over the next few days (what’s happening).”

Meanwhile, regarding Jordan, he explained, “We are busy with Sporting Lisbon on Liam. There are a few complications around the deal, but nothing of any major consequence, and we will be clearing that up by August 31st so that he can go back to Sporting.

“Liam was there with Sporting on loan with an option to acquire his services for this season, and they contacted us again at the end of May/beginning of June and asked us to extend that loan for a further season. They obviously saw something special there.

“They’ve asked us for that further year, we’ve said yes, so it’s just a question of cleaning up the paperwork and I’m confident that he’ll go back there.”
