Wits' Big European Signing Confirmed
Bidvest Wits Have Completed The Signing Of Slavko Damjanovic
Bidvest Wits completed the signing of a Montenegrin defender, Slavko Damjanovic, after he underwent a successful training period at the club.
The Siya crew reported last week that the 24-year-old centre back was training with Gavin Hunt’s side ahead of a possible move, with reports that he may have agreed to a two-year deal already.
Now, having continued training under Hunt’s watchful eye, it has been revealed that the former FK Sutjeska Niksic man has secured himself a deal at the club and will be one of their foreigners for the 2017/18 campaign, penning a one-year deal with a one-year option.
Wits are currently without one of their star defenders, Buhle Mkhwanazi, after a serious knee injury and the fact that Damjanovic can play in his position on the left-hand side of defence will no doubt have helped his cause.
The defender is no stranger to silverware having helped his side win the cup in Montenegro recently and he would’ve been playing UEFA Europa League football if he hadn’t decided to make the trip to South Africa.
At 6 ft 1, Damjanovic will bring some extra height to the Wits defence and Hunt will no doubt be hoping to get some goals out of him as the club seek to defend the Absa Premiership title.
His move was confirmed by the player's agent, Ivica Stankovic.
