Wits’ Mkhwanazi Horror Blow, Out For Most Of 2017
Bidvest Wits have been handed a horrendous blow to their defence after Buhle Mkhwanazi was ruled out for the bulk of 2017 with a knee injury.
The centre back has been key to the Clever Boys’ success this season as they challenge for the league title – they went three points clear on Thursday night – and clinched the MTN8 trophy earlier in the campaign.
However, Mkhwanazi will play no further part in the 2016/17 campaign and may also miss the majority of the year as he recovers from a knee injury that will require surgery.
It is thought that the defender will head for surgery in the near future after sustaining the injury against Mamelodi Sundowns, and will then miss around six months as he gets himself back to fitness once again.
Incredibly, Mkhwanazi picked up the knock early in the second half as Wits beat Masandawana, going on to finish the game and win the Man of the Match award.
Hunt will now not be expecting his defender back until at least November, and will have to rely on Thulani Hlatshwayo and Bongani Khumalo to finish the season as they close in on the title.
