Stars, who won two Q-Innovation titles in the first season of its existence in 2012/13, are the only one of the three teams that have previous success in the initiative, however Sundowns have four previous titles.
As things stand, with one game left to play in Q1, it is Wits that are ahead of the pack to land the R1.5m in prize money, however they are just one point clear of Dikwena and AmaZayoni.
Sundowns are still in with a mathematical chance of claiming Q1, but in order for that to happen, Wits have to lose their game against Jomo Cosmos, Stars/Aces have to draw/lose to Ajax Cape Town/Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns must beat Polokwane City.
However, the ball is currently in Gavin Hunt’s court, with a win over Cosmos on Tuesday securing the prize money and Q1 title irrespective of other results.
