Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani 'Bibo' Ntshumayelo has started light training and gym work, after being sidelined following a knock in Bucs’ 3-0 victory over Al Ahly.
Bucs beat the current CAF Champions League holders Al Ahly on their home soil 3-0, however Bibo was forced off the field due to an ankle injury he picked up.
Bibo recovered in time to face SuperSport United in the quarter-finals of the MTN8, but sustained yet another knock in their penalty shoot-out victory over Matsatsantsa.
Bucs’ fitness trainer, Japhet Borges, told the Siya crew that Bibo is currently doing light training and spends time in the gym, in an attempt to fully recover within the next two weeks.
Borges told Soccer-Laduma, “Bibo is doing some light running, but he is in the gym a lot. He is pushing hard to get his fitness back. He should be ready to train with his teammates in about two weeks, if he keeps up this intensity.”
Bucs face a busy September month with Saturday’s CAF Champions League match, two Absa Premiership matches, against Polokwane City and Free State Stars, and Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-finals.
“We have a busy time ahead, which also involves a lot of travelling. It’s not ideal circumstances, but we hope for the best,” added Borges
