New Chiefs Signing On His Debut & Favourite Amakhosi Player

Bhongolethu Jayiya Has Spoken About His Kaizer Chiefs Debut

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 20, 2017 09:18 AM
Kaizer Chiefs’ most recent signing, Bhongolethu Jayiyia, has discussed his Amakhosi debut and his favourite former player at the famous club.

The 27-year-old recently joined the Glamour Boys after deciding to move on from Cape Town City and pulled on the black and gold for the first time during last weekend’s Maize Cup competition.

Now, with Chiefs back at Naturena as they preparations for the new season continue, Jayiya has spoken out about what it means to join the club that he grew up supporting with his family.

He told the club’s official website, “It was great to get game time… Especially also after the good pre-season camp, we had in Potchefstroom… Dream come true.”

“I grew up in a Kaizer Chiefs supporting family. My father, my mother, my grandfather, my sister… Everybody supports the Glamour Boys. That’s why it’s so great that I have now joined the club of my dreams.

“I won’t let the supporters down. I know how they feel because I myself have always been one. I want to help Kaizer Chiefs win trophies.”

Meanwhile, when asked who his favourite player was growing up, he revealed that was Stanton ‘Stiga’ Fredericks, a player he actually ended up playing with at Bidvest Wits.

He explained, “Stanton stood out in the way he played,” Jayiya explains, “but also in the way he presented himself off the field. He was never in the news for the wrong reasons and you would never hear a negative story about Stanton. He was a true professional.”

“I was promoted from the development side, BidBoys, to the first team, while Stanton had returned to the club for which he had originally made his debut.”

Chiefs face Orlando Pirates on July 29th in the Carling Black Label Cup ahead of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season.

@mcesi With Bobby, you can expect any cow to sign for Chiefs. The guy doesn't have an eye for talent.

I think these fired players are just a scapegoat. I feel sorry for them and really sorry. As they never scouted themselves to Chiefs. Chiefs used to identify, groom, nurture and inspire talent. And buy effective, efficient, strong players for the team. Not all players can play for the Chiefs, Sundowns, Pirates, etc only players of a particular pedigree can play for these teams

Chiefs needs to re-look at who is doing recruitment. Those people failed the team in the past two seasons, not forgetting other factors operating In the team's set up. I really don't believe talent scouting is doing a great job, hence , the team is in this state. I would fire all who were recruiting players during the past two seasons

@PHAZAMISA AKA NGOZI THE RETURN furthermore have your ever heard about the original Soweto derby if no,let me tell you those were the games between Pirates vs Swallows. Before 1970 then stop saying everyone is /was a Chiefs fan/supporter. Like me I don't care about your team and for my own reasons. As for Jayiya I still wish him all of the best even if he plays for the team I don't support.

@PHAZAMISA AKA NGOZI THE RETURN not everyone your wrong. When u say everyone u mean everyone that says b4 1970 soccer was not supported. Some of us grew up in a Pirates supporting family. One of our neighbour was a staunch Swallows supporter.. You wanted to say most people buy everyone it's a big NO.

@siyas23 do Chiefs fill the stadium if yes in which games, even in their games against 2 teams that has star in their jerseys they didn't fill the stadium. You guys like saying Pirates is an old team,Sundowns is a small team and you are a biggest team, yet you constantly worry about the 2 above mentioned teams.. To Jayiya all of the best boy,if you grew up being a Chiefs fan like you say,it will make you play your heart out. I remember when you were promoted I think you were 16 or 18 years and you scored a brace against the very same team you playing for today. Hope you succeed at Chiefs.
