Surprise Exit As Award Nominee Leaves Maritzburg
Bevan Fransman Has Left Maritzburg United
Maritzburg United are set to be on the lookout for a new central defender, with their current captain, Bevan Fransman, on his way out of the club.
Fransman, who is turning 35, played a huge role for the Team of Choice this season as he skippered them to their highest ever league position and their first ever cup final. Despite his age he played 34 games for the club in all competitions, and formed a valiant partnership with Siyanda Xulu.
So strong was the partnership under Fadlu Davids that both players have been nominated for the Absa Premiership Defender of the Season award, with Maritzburg having finished the 2017/18 campaign with the best defensive record in the league.
Now, according to Siya sources, it has been decided that Fransman will part ways with the Pietermarizburg-based outfit after two seasons at the club, with his contract expiring and no agreement in place to extend his stay.
The former SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic man will now be on the lookout for the next chapter in his career as he looks to continue his fine form into next season.
Maritzburg have already agreed to sign Denwin Farmer from SuperSport United ahead of next season, but will also no doubt be eager to bring in another experienced central defender to fill the gap left by Fransman.
