Best:

Aubrey Modiba: 7/10

Modiba was exciting to watch on the right wing. His pace and trickery was a handful for Amakhosi.

Sipho Mbule: 7/10

The Matsatsantsa youngster was buzzing going forward. His energy and forcefulness nearly brought the goal for his side but he was denied by Mzansi's number one in Itumeleng Khune.

Siphiwe Tshabalala: 7/10

Shabba's maturity is beneficial for Amakhosi in the last third. His composure in setting up teammates almost handed Willard Katsande a goal but the Zimbabwean fluffed a wonderful opportunity with a header just after the break.

Daniel Cardoso: 7/10

Cardoso was tight at the back for Amakhosi. He hardly made any errors. Big performance from the centre-back.

Morgan Gould: 7.5/10

Gould was named the official Man of the Match. He was solid at the back and didn't shy away from tackles.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane: 7/10

"Yeye" played a good game giving the young Mbule space to go forward while pulling the strings in the middle of the park.

Worst:

Gustavo Paez: 4.5/10

Paez only showed up in the first quarter of the match and disappeared thereafter.

George Maluleka: 4.5/10

Maluleka could not deal with the pace of Mbule in midfield and was lacklustre going forward.

Hendrick Ekstein: 5/10

Ekstein, like Paez, showed glimpses of brilliance in the first 15 minutes but played in patches thereafter. He needs to work on his consistency during matches.

Joseph Molangoane: 5/10

The pint-sized midfielder was kept back in his own half by Modiba on the right wing back and could not make his overlapping runs and therefore not effective enough from Amakhosi's perspective.

@Mail4lyf Spot on! George lacks the wow factor. He is good, but ordinary. The current team reminds of the Rats team that went 10 years without a trophy. However, I see Ntshangase bringing the wow factor into the team. Castro will benefit from there. Mahlasela also has it. Too bad he got injured.

Am not surprised that Paez got a 4.5 rating. Steve has done a wonderful job at the back. We need football brain in the attacking third. Otherwise Steve will always comment on calmness and "wrong decisions" in the last third. Steve, unfortunately that is something you won't be able to teach to an old player like Paez and Shabba. Play the correct personnel.

Open letter to Steve Khomphela. Dear Steve, I find it odd that to this day, especially after the Supersport game, that you haven't realised that Chiefs weak link is your most trusted player, Paez. The guy is destructive to our attacking play. Yes we attack with pace, which is impressive, however, most of the time when the balls are channelled towards Paez, he either loses them, he is offside or makes a hasty decision. Our midfielders are not able to function during attacks because they don't have a multidimensional strike who would be able to hold the ball for them. What baffled me the most yesterday was when a free kick was taken while Paez was standing close to the goalkeeper, yet he went on to fight to play the ball, which was a sign of an unintelligent player. Steve, currently a strike who will score goals would be a bonus. What we need isn't necessarily a goal scorer, but a ball holder. The last time we had one was Kingston Nkatha. With modern football, where every player is expected to defend, transitions need to be utilised effectively. That can only be achieved with a player up there who is able to bring the team into play. Paez is simply not that player. The consequence of his presence will always be speculative passes towards him because he is one dimensional. I heard you say other players see Paez late. It could be that the other players have lost confidence in him. Please be aware that you will lose you job because of Paez. Paez isn't the type of strike who can be up there on his own. Hope you heed this message bro Steve. Not even the presence of Ntshangase will solve the Paez problem. Get someone to play with the team. Try Zuma. He might be able to bring in the midfielders during the attacking play. Thank you

Shabba is always suspect. The guy is a winger. There in the middle one can never be sure whether he will trap the ball correctly, make a good run with the ball or make a proper pass. In some critical phases the ball gets lost in his own feet. For now am looking at Ntshangase and Castro for consistency in attack.

Shabba doesn't deceive a 7/10 coz first of all he wasn't into the game,How can steve put a player like Molongoane in the defense and expect a win,as for Maluleka I wonder why engakhishwanga early coz he wasn't ready at all, yabona this thing ye favouritism is still existing, just because he's a big player that doesn't mean kumele ayekwe angakhishwa noma esedlala inyongo.

I think Nhlapo was also excellent for supersport, he caused a lot of problems for our right wing and defence, I don't know why he is not rated in this match

Khompela is going to change how Mahlasela n Castro play, even Nsthangase is no longer going to be who we know him to be.

Ekstien provided some defence-splitting passes n had those on the receiving not been offside, ppl would be praising Ekstien today. I think Ekstien played above average. Shabba was below average yet he's rated at 7, that's double-standards right there

We need a new coach with new ideas i dont know why khompela didnt play Rama mphahlele to ease malongoane defensively n let him focus on attacking...Maluleka for me is an average perfomer its tym for him to warm the bench in the next game and put in Ntshangase..Tshabalala cannot do 90munites now 2nd half he was no where to be found please khompela give Dumisani Zuma a fair chance let him start ahead of tshaba myb put shaba on the 2nd half lowo ke umbono wami otherwise we played much better going forward
