BEST

Mbongeni Gumede: 7/10

He was solid in his defensive role. For the most part he kept the Chiefs attackers at bay with his well-timed tackles and reading of the game. He also posed a threat at set piece time and even had a long-range shot superbly saved by Khune.

Siyethemba Mnguni: 7/10

Mnguni was an extremely positive influence for AmaZulu in attack and he worked hard to get back in defence. He created goal scoring chances for his teammates with some pin-point passing and crossing from the flank. He also had a few shots on goal that were superbly saved by Khune.

Michael Morton: 7/10

He was solid in his defensive midfield role. He was the engine room of the team and often broke up the Chiefs attack with his nail-biting tackles in the midfield. His passing was good and he also had a few long-range shots on goal which went narrowly wide of the target.

Itumeleng Khune: 8/10

The Chiefs captain was his usual consistent self between the sticks. He made numerous good saves to keep his team in the match and marshalled his defence well. His distribution from the back was world class and often turned defence into attack. He also saved a penalty-kick and was named the Man of the Match.

Teenage Hadebe: 7/10

He had a very good debut game for Chiefs. He was solid in defence and showed maturity beyond his years. He broke up the AmaZulu attack with some well-timed tackles and at one point even cleared the ball off the goal line.

Bernard Parker: 7/10

Parker worked tirelessly in attack and made a lot of good off-the-ball runs which often pulled the AmaZulu defence out of shape. His service from his midfielders was not great, but when he did get the ball he looked very threatening in attack. He did have one shot on goal which was brilliantly saved by the fingertips of the AmaZulu keeper.

WORST

Rhulani Manzini: 5/10

Despite working well off-the-ball and finding himself in good scoring positions, his first touch and finishing was poor. He also missed a penalty-kick in the second half which would have given AmaZulu the lead. He was substituted in the second half.

Gustavo Paez: 5/10

He lacked emphasis in attack and never really threatened the AmaZulu goal. He struggled to get hold of the ball and when he did, his first touch wasy poor. He was substituted in the second half.

Hendrick Ekstein: 5/10

The creative midfielder performed his role poorly on the night. He struggled to get into the game and saw very little of the ball which made it very difficult for him to create goal scoring chances for his teammates.

George Mululeka: 5/10

The creative midfielder struggled to find his rhythm in the game. His passing was not at his best and he struggled to create scoring chances for his teammates. He was never really in the game.
