Best & Worst: Pirates v Highlands

Soccer Laduma selects the six best and four worst performers, following Orlando Pirates' 1-1 draw with Highlands Park on Saturday evening.

Click through the gallery to see the best and worst performers on the day.

BEST:

Vincent Pule: 7/10

On debut following his arrival from Bidvest Wits, Pule played like a seasoned campaigner with so much confidence on the ball and nearly found the back of the net on a couple occasions.

Justin Shonga: 6/10

A second-half substitute, Shonga showed calmness and composure to tuck away the penalty and gave Bucs a point. In hindsight, his entry brought a new offensive dimension to what was then a stale attack.

Xola Mlambo: 7/10

The midfield maestro kept good control of the ball and most of his passes were never astray. His experience showed against the league’s new boys.

Bevan Fransman: 7/10

The veteran defender kept it solid on his debut for the Lions of the North and did well restrict to the Pirates players to efforts from distance.

Tapuwa Kapini: 7/10

The veteran shot-stopper made a few important saves, none more than denying Mulenga on successive occasions in the latter stages of the clash.

Innocent Maela: 6.5/10

The full-back kept things simple as he usually does. He was threat going forward and was defensively sound throughout.

WORST::

Lindokuhle Mbatha: 5/10

Was virtually absent throughout the game, offered very little going forward and aside from a few shots from range, never asked pertinent questions of Bucs rear-guard.

Sabelo Nyembe: 4/10

The young striker was isolated throughout the game, as his ability to link up as a target man with the rest of the team never quite took off.

Paseka Mako: 5/10

Showed a little glimpses of he what he can do, but his influence was minimal going forward.

Thembinkosi Lorch: 5/10

Similarly to Mako, Lorch did not have a great impact in the final third, which saw him replaced shortly into the second half.
