Elias Pelembe: 8/10
The attacking midfielder was in fine form. He was quick and skilful on the ball, and posed a massive threat down the flank where he created numerous scoring chances for his teammates. He Also managed to find the back of the net with a well-placed header in the first half.
Gabadinho Mhango: 8/10
The striker was fantastic in attack. He used his speed, skill and strength to beat defenders almost at will. He caused a big headache for the Chiefs defence. He created a few scoring chances for his teammates and also had a couple of efforts at goal that either went just wide or were saved by Itumeleng Khune.
Daine Klate: 8/10
The attacking midfielder was a constant threat down the flanks. He used his speed to get into good positions and produced a number of good crosses into the box. He had to be watched closely by the Chiefs defence. He also created Wits’ second goal with a pin-point corner-kick.
S'fiso Hlanti: 7/10
He had a solid game in his left-back position. He defended well and also got forward in attack. He also created the first goal for Elias Pelembe with a pin-point cross from the left flank.
Thulani Hlatshwayo: 7/10
The Wits captain had a solid game in the centre of defence and kept the Chiefs attack quiet for the most part. His tackling was superb and his communication with his team was top class. He also scored his side’s second goal at a corner-kick with a strong header.
Willard Katsande 6.5/10
Katsande was one of the only shining lights in a rather disappointing Chiefs team. He was solid in the middle of the park in his defensive midfield role, and made some crucial interceptions and tackles to prevent Wits from scoring a few goals.
Kgotso Moleko: 4/10
The right-back had a poor game and was often found wanting when Wits attacked down his flank. He also made a few errors which put pressure on the Chiefs goal. He was nowhere to be found when S'fiso Hlanti provided the cross from the left flank for Wits’ opening goal.
George Lebese: 5/10
It was a horrible night for Lebese who saw very little of the ball. He was virtually non-existent in the game and did nothing to add to the benefit of the team. He also gave the ball away cheaply. He was substituted early in the second half, being replaced by Emmanuel Letlotlo in the 57th minute.
George Maluleka: 5/10
Maluleka offered very little in attack from his midfield role. He often gave the ball away cheaply and very rarely threatened the Wits defence. He needed to show more enthusiasm to get the ball at his feet. He was substituted in the 72nd minute.
Ramahlwe Mphahlele: 4/10
Kaizer Chiefs’ new centre-back also had a poor game. At times he looked at sixes and sevens in defence, and did not communicate well with the rest of his teammates. He also made a few silly errors and struggled to deal with the place of the Wits attack.
