Bernard Parker says Kaizer Chiefs need to develop a stronger mentality if they are to find consistency and returning to the title trail in 2018/19.
The striker was disappointed with Amakhosi's inconsistency in the recently-concluded season, which ended without a major trophy for the club for the third straight campaign.
Earlier in the week, Parker was awarded the Goal of the Month gong by the league for the month of May for his strike that earned Chiefs their 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town on the last day of the Absa Premiership season.
In accepting the award, while speaking to the PSL’s Lux September and members of the media, Parker spoke about the need for consistency at Amakhosi.
“It has been a rollercoaster season for us. We just couldn’t seem consistent. Every time we won one or two matches, and then we think we were back on the horse, then on the third or on the fourth match we get a blow or a little bit of a disappointment,” said Parker.
"I think it was more mental for us throughout the season, and if we were a little bit… 10% more mentally stronger than we were, we would have been speaking differently now."
