Chiefs Star Suggests Amakhosi’s Biggest Flaw
Bernard Parker Thinks He Knows Where Kaizer Chiefs Went Wrong
Bernard Parker may have ended his season with a piece of silverware to celebrate, but the Kaizer Chiefs star thinks he knows what they lacked this year.
The Amakhosi set an unwanted record this season as they went three whole seasons without a single major trophy for the first time in their history, but Parker was given the gong for Goal of the Month after his goal against Ajax Cape Town.
Speaking to the club’s official website about the goal, Parker said, “It’s been a roller coaster season for us. I am grateful that I scored in the game that we won. It was indeed a great goal, but mostly for me, contributing to the team’s success is the most important thing. I’m thankful to my teammates and the opportunity afforded by the Kaizer Chiefs family.”
Meanwhile, the veteran striker – who scored four league goals himself – believes that they were lacking key aspect that stopped them challenging Mamelodi Sundowns for the Absa Premiership title.
He added, “We could have tussled for the league title if we had been more consistent. We have learned our lessons and should do better in the next season.”
Chiefs will return for pre-season on June 25th as they plan to bring back the glory days under whichever new head coach is chosen to replace Steve Komphela.
