Molekwa Credits Polokwane Players For Downs Win
Bernard Molekwa Credits Polokwane City’s Players
Polokwane City coach Bernard Molekwa credited his players after they came from a goal down to beat the league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on Saturday.
“Finally, we got it right. I think credit must go the players because they fought really hard because we conceded early and I told them at half time, I’m not happy with how we conceded I believe we could have done better because it was early in the game,” Molekwa told SuperSport.
The Rise and Shine to the surprise of everyone came out a different animal after the break despite being a goal down to secure an impressive victory.
Key to this though was a goal 10 minutes from the break, which they duly achieved through a header from Sammy Seabi.
“We needed to focus if you play teams like Sundowns. But after I spoke with them, I told them we need to get a goal in the first 10 minutes because we didn’t start well.
“We played good short passes through the middle, and I told them if we can use that more we’ll score, so we came back scored and scored again, and again to win the game,” he said.
Molekwa, who is in his first full time coaching stint with the club, hopes the win doesn’t lead them to rest on their laurels.
“I hope this win doesn’t carry them into their shelves because you win today, come the next game, you lose or win before you play. So I hope they will remain focused for the games ahead in January because we are playing tough teams.
“I hope the level of concentration will be high and we’ll keep on working hard and the only way we can do that is to keep everybody together so that we can move forward,” he said.
