TS Sporting have provided an update on Benson Mhlongo after he was recently replaced in his coaching position.
Last week, the NFD outfit announced that Mfanimbela Maseko had been appointed as the team’s interim coach, with the club confirming at the time that their decision came as a result of Mhlongo’s absence from the team since the November 13.
The club has now confirmed that Mhlongo has returned to resume his coaching duties with the team.
“We would like to inform the public in general and our supporters that we have reached an agreement with our head coach Mr Benson Mhlongo that he returns to work on the 27th of November 2018,” confirmed the club in a statement.
“We will like to thank our assistant coach Mr Mfanimpela Maseko as well our technical director Mr Sammy Troughton and all members of the technical team in the sterling job they have done to keep the team in a better position. We confirm that after meeting with his manager we all agreed that beyond our roles the interest of the team is more important.
"It’s been pretty stressful to have a hanging issue especially in relation to a special position like that of a head coach but the great thing is that we have been able to find each other.
"The road to the top will never be easy that is why we agreed that we need to work as a team.
“Like we said before that we value Mr Benson Mhlongo’s contribution and we believe that he is still important in the life of the team. The decision to have Mr Mhlongo back in the team is influenced by the common understanding that the team comes first. We will continue to offer Mr Mhlongo our necessary support for him to be able to carry his duties with success. We welcome him back with open hearts and wish him well in his duties,” added the club.
During Mhlongo's absence, Sporting beat the University of Pretoria 2-1 in their match at the weekend and are second on the log behind Stellenbosch FC.
