Benni McCarthy On Kaizer Chiefs: There’s No Fuss, It’s Three Points
Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy revealed that he is preparing for his league encounter against Kaizer Chiefs just like he prepares for any other game.
City will welcome the Soweto giants to the Cape Town Stadium tomorrow, September 13, where the two sides will lock horns for the first time in this season’s Absa Premiership campaign.
The Mother City-based club will go into the encounter on the back of a win against Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 semi-finals, while Amakhosi will look to come back from their loss to SuperSport United in the league.
Speaking at Monday’s press conference, McCarthy revealed that his side will prepare for tomorrow’s encounter just like he would prepare to face the likes of Platinum Stars and Baroka.
“Yesterday (Sunday), it was just another game for me. We knew what was at stake but we don’t expect special privileges for every game because, Platinum Stars, Baroka, Kaizer Chiefs, we all treat them the same, it is also three points or it is going to get you in to the next round, so we don’t make preference for no game, so, (with) Wits, we treated it like it was a second half, we were one nil up in the first half and we knew what we had to do. We had to go and fight and we were up for the challenge,” McCarthy told the media yesterday, September 11.
“We came out victorious three times now against them, so what else can I say, now we are focusing on Wednesday, Chiefs are coming and to be honest, I don’t see the fuss about this Chiefs or whoever is coming. For us, it is a three pointer game, so, we are just preparing like we prepare for any other game,” he added.
City’s Absa Premiership clash is scheduled to be underway at 19h30 tomorrow, September 13 at the Cape Town Stadium.
