The Citizens will welcome SuperSport United to the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, August 04, in the opening encounter of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership.
“I think after our preseason we had, I am very excited, much more than I was last season. I see how the players have upped their game and the new players have come in and made us real contenders. I have a balanced and complete squad. I am excited (about) the league but more so for Saturday, we want to get the monkey off our back, it’s the first one,” McCarthy told the media.
“There are a lot of good players out there but I am very satisfied with the players that we brought in and how they have just come and made the side more solid. For me, that is the bank closed now, if need be and if we are lucky and get a lucrative one out there, it has to be someone that is going to change the whole dynamics of the league not just to my squad and then I would say go for it. I am happy with what we got, very happy,” he added.
