Benni: I Will Ask My Mother

Benni McCarthy Has Explained That Goalscoring Ability Is Something That Can't Be Taught

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 03, 2018 06:59 PM

Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy thinks that being able to constantly hit the back of the net is not something that can be taught despite how hard players work.

Bafana Bafana’s all-time top goalscorer has been experiencing a bit of bad luck with his side’s inability to find the back of the net.

McCarthy, who experienced an illustrious career, where goalscoring came easy for the retired footballer, explained that he has learnt that being able to do what he did was something that he was born with.

“I will ask my mother because she gave birth to me, it is a natural thing,” McCarthy told the media.

“I think you can’t teach that, I have tried, believe me, I have tried, every day for almost 200 and odd days as a coach, every day finishing and trying.

“If it is not a natural instinct thing, then you cant teach it. Players have what they have, South Africa must just accept that we are limited when it comes to producing strikers with national instinct because it is a natural instinct and you cant teach that,” he added.

players such as CR7 , ML10 train very hard everyday to be the best n scoring goals left n right is not easy but through their hard work n hunger to be best has in fact made them make scoring goals more fun n easy, all that through training n taking their training sessions serious.

You took a wrong career. If you can't teach them u must stop coaching. Stop insulting our players. How do you expect to get the best out of them.

When he won against Pirates he never had a problem even though his team scored only one goal, samething happened with Sundowns they scored one goal now he wants to ask his mother about football. Benni is another Pitso real everytime things don't go his way he start preaching.

South African teams doesn't want to spend time and resources on producing strikers especially the big three teams. They expect to get finished products. If a small team produces a striker one of the big three quickly buy the player only to destroy him. Even coaches prefer foreign strikers at the expense of the locals. Mosimane and Hunt being the main culprits. They are so patient with foreign strikers than locals.

Its a technical matter, Bennie! Teach your players to take their time when faced with opportunities rather than the rushing they do. They must also stop celebrating before scoring. Players' heads are full of grabbing headlines in the newspapers and impressing girls and wives instead of coaches. They must also do extra practice.
