Benni Emphasizes Stance On Making History

After losing two matches in succession against Baroka FC and Orlando Pirates respectively, AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has reiterated the importance of doing well in the last two matches in line with the Durban-based team’s plans to make history by qualifying for the CAF Champions League for the first time ever.

Usuthu will be at home at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday for the clash against Swallows, before visiting Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium in their last match of the season on Saturday.

Despite the back-to-back losses, McCarthy is confident that his charges cannot waste the opportunity to write their names in the club’s history books.

“It’s extremely important that we secure a second place, but I think it’s all your season’s hard work that goes into it. You don’t want to relax and take your foot off the gas pedal right towards the end because it just destroys everything you’ve worked hard for and everything you’ve achieved so far. For us, we’ve got everything to play for. First time in the history of the club that we will be able to get a chance to play in the CAF Champions League,” said McCarthy, speaking through AmaZulu’s media department.

In the first round match in February at the Dobsonville Stadium, Swallows and AmaZulu drew 0-0.
