AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy is delighted about putting pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns in the title chase.
AmaZulu beat TS Galaxy 2-1 in their DStv Premiership match played at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Saturday to move up to second place on the log standings.
Having played to a 0-0 draw with Downs in their previous match, Usuthu have closed the gap with the Chloorkop outfit to only three points although the Brazilians have played less matches.
“I’m very delighted, very happy with the performance and the attitude from the players. I think the way we handled ourselves, we started the game really well and we didn’t wait for them to see what they would bring to us. When we are at home we try and be clinical, we try and be direct and we try and take the fight to anybody,” said McCarthy, speaking through AmaZulu’s media department after the match.
“We were slightly a bit disappointed with our last home game playing Mamelodi Sundowns where we didn’t get the three points. So, we said today is the game where we need to lift ourselves up. The game came three days after Sundowns and this is a perfect way to bounce back with the three points. We put some more pressure on everybody else,” the coach added.
