Benni Comments On Riekerink Suspension

AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy has commented on the suspension of Cape Town City coach Jan Olde Riekerink.

McCarthy has expressed sympathy with Riekerink as a fellow coach, saying that the future is not guaranteed and that new opportunities will come knocking.

"The past is the past. You know when you close the door, the other one opens for you, and for me, the Cape Town City door closed. Durban opened doors for me to walk in and join AmaZulu FC, that was my destination," Benni said speaking with media.

"When you see a colleague from another club lose a job, it's never pleasant. Like the president said earlier, it is the daily life of a human being. Whether he came in to replace me, when we take this job, your fate is already written. Somewhere around the line they will chop you by the kneecaps, so you must be prepared for that."

McCarthy says that as coaches, jobs are always under threat.

"For some it comes quicker than others. For some, the guy you replaced comes to haunt you. Unfortunately for that coach, losing to us by 5 -1, was the tip of the iceberg.

There were results previously leading to our game, there was an alarm ringing and we went there and did what we had to do and win games. Unfortunately, Cape town City was that team that ended (getting) the beating and coach lost the job. It's never nice and pleasant but we can't do anything," Benni added.

Riekerink could be added to this list of unemployed coaches:
