Kaizer Chiefs had seven of their squad members participating in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, as part of Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana squad, however the team has regrouped as the league resumes.
On Tuesday, Chiefs take on Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium and coach Stuart Baxter is uncertain whether he should field his South African internationals or rest them. However, with the importance of the game, the coach will undoubtedly want his best eleven in his starting line-up.
He told the Siya crew that he will have to analyse each individual player at training, and see how they are feeling.
“It is a difficult one for me. It is a difficult situation right now. The players could be fatigued but I have to ask myself whether they can continue playing and rest them at a later stage or rest them now.
“For now it will depend on what I see at training and talk to the players and hear what they feel. We also have to hear from the physician and get his advice.
“We are playing a tough game against Sundowns and we would have loved to have all the players, but as I have said, it is a difficult one to make a call on these players," the former Bafana Bafana coach concluded.
