Baxter Proud After Cup Win

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was lost for words after his side completed a league and cup double on Saturday.

Bernard Parker fired Amakhosi to a 1-0 win in the final of the Nedbank Cup and Baxter admitted that he was extremely proud of his side.

The coach said that at the start of the season, he would not have dreamed of completing a double but he said that as the season pushed on, his players made him believe.

"I don't know what thoughts I have at the moment to tell you the truth. I'm immensely proud of the players and the way they played in a cup final," he said.

"First-half was a bit so-so, but we remained true to the way we played all year. We opened up the field and played in pockets of space. When we started to do that, we played very well so I’m delighted.

"I thought in the first-half we weren't brave enough, but in the second-half and extra-time we opened the field beautifully and we could get more movement behind their backline.

"When we first started out in Potchefstroom, If someone had told me that we would do the double I would have asked them how much alcohol they had been drinking.

"But the more the players gelled and the more committed they became, suddenly I started to believe it."
