Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Stuart Baxter, says he’s happy to see his team in and around the PSL’s top spot.
Last year’s Absa Premiership winners briefly found themselves back on top of the table on Saturday night following their win over Free State Stars, however, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Sunday win over Moroka Swallows moved them down to second.
The victory over Stars was the Amakhosi’s third successive win in the PSL, and it appears that, after a shaky start, Baxter’s men could be finding their feet.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website Baxter said, “To occupy the top spot on the log says something. It says that we are doing something right. We will keep working hard to establish ourselves at the top spot. It is good to escalate to the top but I will still be happy to shadow the top teams and remain a threat in the mix.”
Baxter’s side only lost three games in the PSL last season, however this time around they’ve lost two with just 12 games played.
Yet despite their stuttering start to the campaign, a win over Sundowns in Tuesday’s top-of-the-table clash would see them go one point clear of the Brazilians and back on top of the league.
