Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, will face a tough decision when it comes to which players he will select when his side take on Mamelodi Sundowns tonight.
The current PSL log leaders will be looking to get their 2013 off to a good start when they take on Sundowns as the Absa Premiership resumes, following the African Cup of Nations break.
Chiefs had seven of their players picked in Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana squad, the majority of whom are first team players, and will now have to judge the level of fatigue within his ranks as he attempts to field a side capable of toppling Downs.
It is thought that striker Bernard Parker is available for selection after his injury was assessed, although he may still be rested along with some of his teammates.
While Baxter is obviously keen to put out his best side against Sundowns, he will be wary of playing tired players who could play at a lesser tempo than some of their teammates.
In the English Premier League this weekend, Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini fielded a visibly fatigued Yaya Toure who looked like a shadow of the player he has been the rest of the season.
It remains to be seen which side Baxter will field when the PSL returns to action, but it is believed that at least a few of his usual starting 11 will be left on the bench.
