Former Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic defender Timothy Batabaire has travelled to Durban to begin a trial with AmaZulu. The Ugandan has been in search of a club since the season started, after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Wits.
The 31-year-old has already had an unsuccessful trial with Moroka Swallows in his search, however a source in the know confirmed with the Siya crew that Batabaire is KwaZulu-Natal where he will be assessed Usuthu coach Craig Rosslee.
“He has gone to train with AmaZulu. He went there and will be assessed by the club throughout the week. The coach will be in a better position to advise on his progress at a later stage,” said the source.
AmaZulu recently signed former Orlando Pirates midfielder Njabulo Manqana and could be roping in some more new faces. They are currently assessing a few other players, including the likes of Luyanda Hlongwa and Xolani Mabaso.
