NFD log-leaders, Baroka FC, are keen on keeping Orlando Pirates loanee, Jacky Motshegwa, at the club beyond his current loan spell.
The 28-year-old joined Bakgaga during the January transfer window and has played a key role for the Limpopo-based side since then, helping the team maintain their dominance in the second tier.
Motshegwa, who spent last season on loan with Bloemfontein Celtic, reaffirmed his importance to the team two weeks ago, when he netted a brace in Baroka’s 3-2 win over Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup.
Baroka have high hopes of winning automatic promotion to the PSL and, with that in mind, are planning for life in Mzansi’s elite league. Indications are that Motshegwa is part of those plans.
“They have already contacted Pirates for the services of the player who is currently playing with Baroka. He has been doing well since he joined the team in January and I think it's a good move for the player if it works that he stays at Baroka.
“No decision has been taken yet, but Baroka is interested in keeping the player for good after his loan deal expires in June,” a Siya source told the crew.
Pirates and Baroka have established a strong working relationship in recent years and with Thabiso Kutumela set to join the Sea Robbers ahead of the new season, they could well entertain a swap deal that would see Motshegwa make his stay in Limpopo permanent.
The NFD league leaders will look to extend their lead further at the summit when they welcome Santos to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium this afternoon at 15:30.
What would you advise Motshegwa to do regarding his future?
