Baroka FC Have Strengthened Squad With New Defender

Baroka FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of a new defender for the upcoming season.

It has been confirmed to the Siya crew that Baroka have completed the signing of Mashale Rantabane for the new season.

Rantabane finished the 2017/18 season playing for Mthatha Bucks in the National First Division. Despite Bucks’ unsuccessful season, which led to the team getting relegated to the ABC Motsepe League, Rantabane was one of the few influential players from the Eastern Cape outfit.

The 27-year-old Free State-born player, who was previously on the books of Orlando Pirates, has signed a three-year deal with Bakgaga, as confirmed by his representative, Lizwe Mthethwa of Aftesec Sports Group.

“We are delighted to confirm that Rantabane has signed a straight three-year deal with Baroka FC. He was arguably the best centre-back in the league (NFD) last season," confirmed Mthethwa.

“His performance against AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup showed what the club (Baroka) can expect from him in the upcoming season. We thank the chairman of Baroka for giving this boy a chance,” said the representative.

This boy is extremely good I know him from Kasi Edenville. He is very versatile, He can be a striker if one needs a striker, he can also distribute from the middle and he can also be a very good defender. We call him Boteza. What a humble guy and a very good player
