University of Pretoria will resume their league campaign against neighbours, Supersport United on Friday night at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe stadium.
The Siya crew contacted Tuks coach, Steve Barker, ahead of their first encounter in 2014, he said they have been training very hard and it’s been a long break.
The coach revealed that his team is looking forward to playing some competitive football and the preparations have gone well.
“We have worked extremely hard during the break and we are ready for our first game against United. The second round will be more challenging and competitive than the first round but we are ready. We have Raymond Monama who is settling in very well nicely. He is a quality player and we’re delighted to have him on board and we hope he will add a new dimension to the team. He’s enjoying himself and showing us that he wants to play week in, week out. I hope he will play a part come Friday,” said Barker.
Amatsantsantsa a Pitori won their first match of the year against Orlando Pirates by 2-1 and the former Wits player said, his team is also motivated and ready for the challenge too.
“We are motivated too and United have two matches this week and we’re aware our form has been very poor in the beginning of the season, we have to rectify our errors. We need to start on Friday to ensure we begin picking more points. They’re a very good team, they’ve made good signings. They’re a good quality side with great ambitions but at the same time we need to worry about our qualities and what we can do better in order to get points on Friday,” said Barker.
