University of Pretoria head coach Steve Barker has been putting his players through their paces during the international break, preparing the team ahead of their clash against Bloemfontein Celtic, despite having faced some interruptions.
Barker’s men have been slow out of the starting blocks this Absa Premiership season, having recorded only one point from their opening three league fixtures.
However, Barker is relatively happy with side’s preparations ahead of the Celtic clash at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
Barker told Soccer-Laduma, “Preparations have been mostly good. We’ve had some good solid training sessions and a few good friendlies. It’s a big week for us, with three matches in seven days. We have to be well prepared for that, which I believe we are.”
Barker has three of his players on international duty, which will have dampened the mood on his preparations for the team's busy week ahead.
"There’s obviously been a couple of disruptions with some national team call ups. Buhle Mkhwanazi and Washington Arubi are playing against each other this evening and our new signing Nyondo will be playing for Malawi,” said Barker
