As Kaizer Chiefs prepare to take on Mpumalanga Black Aces tonight, legendary shot-stopper, Banks Setlhodi, is confident that Amakhosi’s extended break from action will help them to improve from their winless run of four league games.
Chiefs will take on former coach Muhsin Ertugral’s AmaZayoni side, after last playing a league tie on 15 March in the 1-0 loss to Jomo Cosmos, as they look to widen the gap between themselves and the fifth-placed side.
The 68-year-old said that, if Chiefs fail to recover their form then he doesn’t know how Steve Komphela will solve the issues plaguing his team.
“I think this is the right moment for Kaizer Chiefs,” Setlhodi told Soccer Laduma. “They’ve had two weeks off and I believe, with their losing streak, they have had enough time to regroup, to sit down and really rectify whatever wasn’t functioning well for them.
“This is the right time for them. I really believe that they will beat Aces. If not, then I’ll be wondering, because they’ve had enough time.”
Chiefs boast a good record against Aces, with five wins from their last six encounters and three from the last four in the Mbombela Stadium.
Black Aces, however, will be confident, considering that they are undefeated in 15 of their last 16 matches at home in the PSL, including 13 this season.
Chiefs have already beaten Aces twice this season. A 2-1 win in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals and the 1-0 victory in the league back in October 2015.
