SuperSport Poised To Land SA Starlet, Talks ‘Advanced’
SuperSport United look to set land the signature of another talented young player, with Stellenbosch’s Jamie Webber being spotted training with the club.
Webber, who turns 20 in the new year, played 19 times for the Western Cape-based outfit in the National First Division last season, and earlier this year got his Bafana Bafana debut under Stuart Baxter in the COSAFA Cup.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder now looks to be closing in on a move to the top flight, with SuperSport’s CEO, Stan Matthews, confirming that discussions are at an ‘advanced stage’ with his club.
He told the Siya crew, “Talks are at an advanced stage for him to possibly join in us in the January transfer window, and Stellensbosch have given him permission to come and train with us for Eric to have a look at him.”
If all goes well and Tinkler likes what he sees from the talented teen, then Webber is expected to become one of Matsatsantsa’s first signings of the January transfer once it opens up in around a month.
