In FIFA’s recent World Rankings ahead of the World Cup set to commence on 12 June 2014, Bafana Bafana still remain rooted in 65th spot.
Bafana had an opportunity to scale the FIFA Rankings during their recent Australasian tour in which they faced both Australia and New Zealand, however draws in both international fixtures have resulted in no movement for South Africa.
In the CAF Rankings, Bafana currently occupy 14th with top spot now belonging to North African giants, Algeria, who will be partaking in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Spain are still number one in the World Rankings followed by Germany, with World Cup hosts, Brazil, coming in at third. Portugal are fourth, and Lionel Messi’s Argentina in fifth. Switzerland take up sixth, Uruguay seventh, Colombia in eighth spot, Italy in ninth and England wrap up the top ten.
Meanwhile, CAF’s top five consists of Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, World Cup-bound Ghana in fourth, and the Cape Verde Islands conclude the top five.
