Newly-selected Bafana Bafana defender, Cheslyn Jampies has been urged to pick his game up or face a possible exit at Jomo Cosmos.
The 26-year-old recently received a call-up to Shakes Mashaba’s AFCON qualifying squad following solid displays at left back for Jomo Sono’s team.
However, Siya sources at the club have since indicated that the player has lost focus and the club’s top management are not impressed.
According to the sources, there is a strong possibility that the former Santos man could be released by the club come the end of the season if he does not show the form he produced earlier in the campaign.
Cosmos’ management believe that Jampies’ inconsistency has come as a result of poor tactical decision making, which has reportedly cost the club some valuable points in their battle to stay in the top flight of South African football.
Eyebrows were raised by the club’s management following the 26-year-old’s premature 13th minute dismissal due to a two-footed lunge on Orlando Pirates midfielder, Luvuyo Memela, in Cosmos’ humiliating 5-0 loss against the Soweto-based outfit.
The Siya crew can confirm that Ezenkosi have since urged Jampies to up his performances in the PSL and not allow his recent Bafana call-up against Cameroon to get to his head. Despite being accused of not being at his best of late, Jampies has formed an integral part of the current Ezenkosi set-up, having registered 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting once in the process.
He has, however, collected a total of eight yellow cards and one red card thus far this season, which is something that is not helping his cause.
Jampies could be in contention for a starting berth in Ezenkosi’s Absa Premiership fixture against log-leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, following a two-match suspension for a straight red card against Orlando Pirates.
What advice would you offer Jampies regarding his approach and discipline?
