Chippa United Chief Operations Officer, Peter Koutroulis, says Walter Maponyane has sorted out his problems and is back in training with the club.
According to a Siya crew source, the player has been Awol from the club for five weeks and does not like staying in Cape Town. He was signed at the beginning of the season on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, along with Siyabulela Shai and Seun Ledwaba, but it seems he has battled to familiarise himself with his surroundings and was keen on moving away from the club.
However, the club and the player have discussed the matter and the defender has pledged his commitment to the Chilli Boys’ cause going forward.
Koutroulis told the crew, “He had a personal problem but it has been sorted out now and he is back with the club. He has started training and is focusing on his job. You know how the young boys can be sometimes, but I always help them and try to speak to them."
He went on, "The chairman also speaks to them. They understand their job and everybody is happy. He is a good player with a massive talent and we are giving him a chance to showcase his potential.
