“Big Clubs Deserve Big Competitions” – Pirates Goal Hero
Augustine Mulenga Is Happy To Be Progressing At Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates’ Augustine Mulenga seems to be finding his feet in the Absa Premiership, and the former Zanaco man is delighted to be back in the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers secured their spot in the 2018/19 CCL largely thanks to a Mulenga brace on Wednesday night as they ran out 4-0 winners of Bidvest Wits, and will now join Mamelodi Sundowns in the next edition of the African club showpiece.
With three goals in five league matches, Mulenga has already put himself up among the club’s top scorers despite having only arrive in January, and he says that he’s looking forward to doing his thing continentally.
Speaking to the media earlier this week, the Zambian said, “What I can say is that Pirates is a big club, and a big club deserves to compete in the big competition. It’s good for us that we’ve confirmed that we’re going to be in the Champions League, and it’s a good feeling for us as players. We just have to continue working hard so that we can compete against the big clubs in Africa.
When asked how he was adapting to life in the PSL after scoring his second and third goals in South Africa, Mulenga explained, “I’m catching up bit by bit, I’m sure by the end of the season I’ll find myself in the position that I want to be.”
Pirates face Cape Town City this afternoon, and the 28-year-old will be hoping to add to his tally for the season in the Mother City.
