Atletico Madrid Monitoring South African Youngster
A South African youngster, who is doing well in his blossoming career, is being monitored by Atletico Madrid for the progress he has been making.
For his impressive performances for Golden Arrows’ reserves, as well as his progress at the KwaZulu-Natal club, Njabulo Cebekhulu is being touted for success and great things in his football career.
The interest from Spanish giants is mounting for the services of the young goalkeeper, as confirmed by his representatives in issue 1070 of Soccer Laduma.
The 22-year-old impressed the Spanish club during Abafana Bes’thende’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team’s recent tour to Spain.
Arrows, who are the two-time MDC champions, were on tour in Spain in March, playing matches against some of the top youth teams in the country.
The KZN team’s tour to Spain was part of their prize for winning the PSL’s Reserve League this year.
“Njabulo Cebekhulu is a talented goalkeeper, who has been playing well for Golden Arrows’ reserves. The boy impressed Atletico Madrid’s youth goalkeeper coach (Francesco Musacchio) during Arrows’ recent tour of Spain. He was so impressed with the boy when he saw him play. The club wants to do a follow-up on their interest in the boy,” confirmed the player’s representative, Zukile Mbotshane.
Although he has played second fiddle to experienced Sherwyn Naicker in most games for Arrows in their MDC campaign, Cebekhulu has managed to impress whenever he has been given an opportunity to play.
The Atletico Madrid’s youth goalkeeper coach was recently quoted as saying that he likes the Umlazi-born goalkeeper for his ‘good level of technical quality’, as well as his height, after a training session with him at the Wanda Atletico de Madrid Training Complex.
