ASEC See Chiefs As Colossal

Kaizer Chiefs' opponents in the play-off rounds of the Caf Confederations Cup, ASEC Mimosas, have revealed they respect the size and success of the Glamour Boys.

Chiefs are due to face the Ivorian outfit on a home and away basis in order to qualify for the group stages of the CCC. The Black and Yellows are themselves a major African club as well.

The team from Abidjan are 24-time league winners in the Ivorian Premier League, and also have one Caf Champions League title to their name as well.

The Roger Ouegnin-coached outfit are currently second in their domestic standings, and seem to boast some decent firepower in their ranks. Strikers, Koffi Davy Mahinde Boua and Foba Stevens Koffi have 12 and eight goals to their name respectively.

However, the Ivorian giants have gone on record in saying that they recognize the sheer size of Chiefs, who they are preparing to meet in the next round of the CCC.

In an official statement, the club said, "Kaizer Chiefs are a serious opponent with colossal means and many sponsors...Chiefs is the rival of the well-known, Orlando Pirates, in Soweto. It is the most successful club and most popular in South Africa, with approximately 16 million fans, representing a little more than half of the population of Ivory Coast... Today this team is leading the championship race in South Africa (as well)."

Chiefs' first leg clash with ASEC is tentatively scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 18th of April at a yet to be named venue. The second leg will reportedly take place a week later in Ivory Coast.
