David Gateri, an Kenyan youngster from Cape Town’s Africa Soccer Developments academy, has received a call-up to the full Kenyan squad for when they play Libya next month in an international friendly.
The 18-year-old joined ASD from Kenyan Premier League side, Nairobi City Stars, around two years ago and made his international debut at the tender age of 16 when Kenya faced Bafana at Soccer City two years ago.
Gateri currently plies his trade in ASD’s SAFA 2nd Division side and their under-19s and has attracted lots of interest during the academy’s tours around the world.
ASD expressed their happiness at the news, telling the Siya crew, “All at ASD Cape Town are delighted for David with his latest all up. He is another player who has caught the attention of EPL and European clubs.”
The left-footed midfielder has is said to be blessed with an impressive first touch and an intelligent football brain, something that he will be hoping to put into practice when he pulls on the kit of his national team.
