Golden Arrows have further strengthened their defence with the addition of Thembela Sikhakhane to the team. Sikhakhane played his football at various junior clubs within the KwaZulu-Natal province before making his big move to Abafana Bes’thende.
The youngster has penned a three-year-deal with the Manqoba Mngqithi-coached outfit and although he will not be expected to be drafted into the starting line-up, he will be nurtured by the senior players.
Arrows have already added former Chippa United defender, Gift Sithole, to their ranks as Mngqithi aims to reinforce his back-line. The team conceded some unnecessary goals during the first round of the season, with the coach looking to solidify his structure.
Still at Arrows, Philani Kunene is one of the players expected to be released on loan. The club feels that with the talent the player possesses, he should go and play regular football elsewhere if he does not get a chance in the team.
