A local football agent, Siya Mareke has issued a sincere apology to Baroka FC and club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele after the allegations of non-payment recently made against the Limpopo outfit.
In edition 1087 of Soccer Laduma, it was reported by the Siya crew that Mareke of YoBoy Management decided to take on Bakgaga over what he said at the time was an alleged failure by the club to pay for his company’s services. At the time, Mareke alleged that his company was not paid by Baroka for the role they played in bringing in Wedson Nyirenda from Zambia as the head coach of the club.
Contacted at the time of the allegations, Baroka chairman, Khurishi Mphahlele said the club had arranged for paying a portion of the money allegedly owed to Mareke at the end of last month (August).
Speaking to the Siya crew this week, Mareke has apologised to Baroka and Mphahlele for the manner he and his management company handled the matter.
“As the director of YoBoy Management, I would like to apologise to Baroka FC because I now realise that the matter should have been dealt with way better without involving the media. I would like to apologise to the president of the club Mr Mphahlele and Baroka as the football club. I promise that in the near future we will never have such issues again with the club,” said Mareke.
“We do acknowledge that the president of the club should have been respected by us and we do want to assure him that we respect him by issuing this apology. We should have been patient and we do acknowledge that we made a blunder from our side. As Siya Mareke, I sincerely apologise to Baroka because I feel like I disrespected the chairman of the club and the club’s sponsors. It was never an intention to drag the club’s name (through) the mud but it was a blunder from our side,” concluded the agent.
