Goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola was named Ajax Cape Town’s Player of the Year as well as the Player’s Player of the Year.
The Finnish shot-stopper, who has been the cape Town’s side’s most consistent player has also been nominated by the PSL for the Goalkeeper of the Season award after his fine performances together with Kaizer Chief’s Itumeleng Khune and Wits’ Moeneeb Josephs.
Ajax Cape Town hosted their end-of-season awards ceremony at the Crystal Towers hotel in Century City on Wednesday with Andre Petim, Abbubaker Mobara and Anssi Jaakkola all scooping up awards in a tough season.
Petim was named Sportsman of the Year with Mobara named Ajax's Rookie of the Year.
The Urban Warriors have had an up and down season, with coach Muhsin Ertugral resigning in January due to personal reasons and former Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa taking over in February.
Ajax ended the season mid-table finishing in 12th spot after claiming 35 points from 30 matches.
