Dani Ladeira, a 16-year-old midfielder, is currently plying his trade for Portuguese team, CD Nacional, in their youth ranks.
Ladeira, who holds citizenship to both Portugal and South Africa, has already been making waves in Europe and was recently called up to play for Portugal’s under-17 national team.
The young midfielder is yet to make his first team debut for Nacional but is a firm favourite of the club’s youth coach, Pedro José Jacinto.
Having already represented Portugal at youth level it would seem that the youngster’s mind has been made up with regards to which country he would like to represent, however Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund, may be tempted to keep an eye on the fledgling talent and attempt to persuade him to turn out for South Africa.
The midfielder has a similar story to recent Bafana call-up, Ricardo Nunes, who also represented Portugal as a youngster but turned out for South Africa at international level.
