AmaZulu are having a tough campaign in 2019/20 so far, and it won’t get easier today against a Maritzburg United side that are in a rich vein of form despite their recent loss at the hands of SuperSport United earlier in the week.
Eric Tinkler, who has overseen a major turnaround in fortunes since his arrival at the Team of Choice earlier in the year, has warned his side to be wary of Usuthu after their improved performance in the defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns, and admits that it’s going to be tough.
Speaking to Maritzburg’s official website, Tinkler said, “We watched AmaZulu, and they made it extremely difficult for Sundowns… I think they’re playing a lot more direct now under the new coach. It’s going to be a tough game, we have to prepare ourselves as best we possibly can.
“All the matches are tough, you look at the league, it’s so compact, every game is a must-win game. You can’t go into any game thinking it’s a guaranteed three points.
“Every game you’ve got to go in with a professional mindset, according to what we’ve been working on throughout the season tactically. Physically you’ve got to give everything in order to get the results.”
