It has been confirmed that the player who was admitted to hospital during the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu has since been discharged.
During their 1-0 loss to Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday night, AmaZulu had goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha rushed to hospital halfway through the game after he picked up a serious injury.
The Durban-based club has confirmed that Mbatha has since been discharged from hospital, although he is set to remain sidelined as he recovers from the injury.
“Siya Mbatha has been discharged from hospital this morning, but will remain on the sidelines for a few weeks after sustaining a fracture below his left eye during yesterday’s game with Mamelodi Sundowns. Wishing you a speedy recovery,” confirmed AmaZulu on the club’s official Twitter account.
Usuthu are scheduled to take on Maritzburg United in the KwaZulu-Natal derby at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
