AmaZulu have parted ways with Josef Lekata. The 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations at the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit.
A lot was expected from Lekata when he joined the team from FC Cape Town, however he spent most of his time at the club on the sidelines. AmaZulu confirmed that the player’s contract has been terminated.
“Josef approached the club with the request to terminate his contract with immediate effect and we agreed to it. We wish him well in his career,” AmaZulu’s general manager, Peter O’Connor, told the club’s official website.
Lekata is the second player that has left AmaZulu this year. Usuthu have already parted ways with Prince Hlela, with the former Bloemfontein Celtic left back having joined SuperSport United on a six-month loan deal.
AmaZulu have made one signing to date, under coach Craig Rosslee, with former Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates midfielder Njabulo Manqana having penned a deal with the club.
