AmaZulu goalkeeper, Philani Zikalala, is expected to be rewarded with a new deal for his progress and contribution to the team this season. Zikalala has grown in leaps and bounds at Usuthu this season.
The 30-year-old is currently the team’s number one goalkeeper. He has relegated Aubrey Mathibe to the bench in Craig Rosslee’s team during Tapuwa Kapini’s absence due to an injury.
AmaZulu general manager, Peter O’Connor, confirmed to the Siya crew that his side has offered Zikalala a new deal. The KwaMashu-born player was linked with a move to AmaZulu’s neighbours Golden Arrows.
The player’s current deal with AmaZulu is set to expire in June. AmaZulu team manager Japhet Zwane confirmed that the KZN side is expected to finalise its discussions on the player’s future.
“I think the club will meet with his representatives soon to talk about the matter. I understand that his agent has been busy and that’s why it hasn’t happened yet. We want to make sure that the player is focused on playing,” said Zwane.
